The Venice community is part of Sarasota County’s great expansion east of I-75 and south to Englewood. The downtown is on an island with three bridges spanning a man-made Intra-coastal Waterway. This delightful 1920’s community of parks and pedestrian-friendly avenues was designed by John Nolen who is credited for New York’s Central Park.
Maintaining a Mediterranean Revival Style, the main thoroughfare, Venice Avenue is flanked by boutiques and cafes facing a grassy park-like setting of walking and jogging paths, bandstand and tennis courts. Eventually this divided, tree lined thoroughfare leads directly to one of many public beaches.
